First decent picture of the protagonist from my story.
The story moves between 2 eras (covering about 2000 years), dark-age/fantasy & modern/cyberpunk.
Each era is referred to as the First Aeon & Second Aeon respectively.
I think I'll go with this as a finished character appearance concept for Kayal in the second Aeon.

Colour/shading done in PaintShop Pro 7/9
Not completely happy with the hair or the gun, but the picture will suffice for now.
As presumptuous as it may seem of me to make this last point on my drawing;
Character, Drawing & design Copyright (c) of Robert Voigt
I plan to make something of this character eventually. Specifically; a graphic novel so please don't steal my art.
Sorry i've got nothing more.. Constructive to say but... *cling* You're improving so much :0 *clings to teh Kayal* I'm no good at shading dark fabric, but you obviously are :3
hey pretty cool dude.. though.. ...... (sorry) face could look 10 times more kickass if there was an ickle bit of shading on the face and an ickle bit of more shade on the coat between his legs... (it'd be darker there) wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooo

I hate flossing, I wish I just had one long curvy tooth.
My suggestion is to not line the hair so much, but do it more like the hair done here: [link]
- with that you should get the same hair-style/effect but it will probably look better...
in short: bundle the hair together more, so there aren't so many thick black lines to break it up, and connect the ends in points, not frilly rasta-like thingies...

For Shai Hulud - or Daphne behind the dumpster with whipped cream, kumquats, three midgets and a gallon or so of kumquat liqour... Psiotechniqa - the webcomic (NSFW, violence, gore, sex, people called Bob)
What happened to it was that I was working in a small area (A4) and using 'normal' pencils instead of mech. pencils. Thus the lines were thicker than I wanted and I couldn't fit in all the strands I wanted.
I was aiming more for a realistic effect than the traditional animé style.
Trying to move away from Animé/manga style but retain some its influences.
Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.
In this article I will provide you some ideas how you can build your own homestudio for considerably cheaper price than it would cost to use "official" studio gear. I will also show you few examples where I have used the gear I describe during this article.
DeviantArt is full of extremely well produced artistic fashion and fine art photographs. Make up. Styling. Creation of scenery. Story. Light. Glamour. A combination of these expressions sometimes make up a great photograph. But the protagonists of these pictures are usually female.
So... now it's the time for male models to come into focus.
`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
